She founded “ManoelFerreira Productions, LLC” and produced the award-winning film, “BEFORE SUNRISE” (2020), which was shot on an iPhone and directed remotely from Brazil during the pandemic lockdown. She also wrote and starred in “LEAVES” (2021), a short film that sheds light on the pressing issues of climate change, global warming, wildfires, and deforestation. The film has won numerous awards around the world.
Julia is currently involved in several new and exciting film projects. She is working on an animated short film, “ALORNOMORE,” which highlights the gender inequalities that persist in too many cultures. She is also collaborating with legendary casting director Bonnie Timmerman on two projects inspired by the celebrated danger-zone photographer, Jonathan Alpeyrie. The first is a documentary about his work, and the second is a feature film based on his capture in Syria that led to 81 days of captivity. Additionally, Julia is preparing for the production of the feature film, “CARMELITA,” which deals with the issue of human trafficking.
Julia’s work extends beyond the film or modelling industry. She has been nominated for the “Luiza Brunett Award,” which recognizes efforts to combat violence against women.
