INTRODUCTION

1.      These are the guidelines governing your interaction with FilmmakerLife.com and its associated web platforms, collectively referred to here as “Sites” and “Services.” These offerings facilitate the exchange of information and collaboration among users, providing a digital space for sharing, networking, and communication. “Content” encompasses all shared data, resources, and tools.

You, as a participant in our digital ecosystem, and FilmmakerLife, are bound by these guidelines. Should you represent an organization while engaging with our Sites or Services, you acknowledge your compliance and your capacity to enter into this agreement.

2.    Engaging with Our Offerings 2.1 User Categories and Permissions

• Visitors can freely browse certain data on the Sites without needing an account.
• Account Creation and Profiles are necessary to utilize certain Services.
• Subscriptions may be needed for certain Services, potentially incurring fees (refer to section 7).

We reserve the right to limit or deny access to our platforms at our discretion.

2.2 User Qualifications Access to specific Services may require fulfilling certain criteria detailed within the Sites. Our Services are not designed for individuals below 18 years, barring involvement from a legal guardian or representative on their behalf, subject to adherence to these terms.

3.    Your Interaction with Content and Services 3.1 Accessing our Platforms It’s your responsibility to secure the means to access our Services, including internet service and equipment. We do not hold responsibility for any network availability or technical issues that may affect your access.

Password confidentiality is crucial; you bear responsibility for activities conducted under your credentials.

3.2 Proper Use of Our Offerings Our Services are for informational use. We do not guarantee the constant availability or accuracy of content and are not liable for the content’s storage or significance in critical communications. Endorsement of any third-party services or products should not be inferred.

You are encouraged to independently verify information and ensure secure and timely communication.

3.3 Inappropriate Content Reporting If you encounter content that seems unlawful or inappropriate, or have a negative interaction with another user, inform us. We may investigate and take action at our discretion.

3.4 Your Content Rights Our Sites and Services content, including trademarks, media, and software, is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant a limited license for content usage related to the Services.
Please note that your content may have multiple presentations, providing you with enhanced exposure opportunities.

By consenting to our policies, you grant The FilmmakerLife permission to utilize, distribute, and share the film poster, trailer, synopsis, article/interview/film review/front cover, and/or movie stills in our future editions and on social media platforms. It’s important to note that we do not, under any circumstances, release the full film or project. Rest assured, safeguarding your data and privacy is our top priority.

You must not replicate, alter, or exploit any content without authorization.

4.    Content You Provide 4.1 Content Authenticity and Legality Providing accurate and lawful content is fundamental for maintaining the quality of our Services. You must ensure the correctness of your contributions and the necessary rights for their use.

4.2 Intellectual Property Utilization We may use your content for operating our Sites and Services. You grant us a perpetual, irrevocable global license to use your content, with the right to sublicense.

4.3 Required Documentation We may request proof of compliance with these terms, including intellectual property ownership and third-party data use permissions.

5.    Conduct on Our Platforms 5.1 Commercial Activity Restrictions Use of our Sites and Services should align with your registered purpose. Unauthorized commercial use is prohibited unless specified in your subscription.

5.2 Prohibited Content Use You are forbidden from unlawful content distribution or any unauthorized use infringing on intellectual property rights or privacy.

5.3 Prohibition on Unlawful Content Provision You must not upload or transmit any content that is illegal or offensive.

5.4 Other Unlawful Acts You are expected to comply with all laws and not misuse our or our service providers’ systems.

6.    Links to Our Sites You may link to our Sites as long as it is done fairly and legally, without suggesting endorsement where none exists.

The link to purchase hard copies of The FilmmakerLife Magazine will remain active for 13 days once we send the email to you. Should you make a purchase within this timeframe, the link will become permanent. In the event of no purchase during this period, the link will expire. However, you may request a new link at any time.

7.    Subscription Service Charges Certain Services may require fees. Payments are non-refundable, and you are responsible for all associated costs, including taxes.

8.    Monitoring Use We may monitor usage to ensure compliance with these terms and for operational purposes.

9.    Breach Consequences Breaches may lead to immediate suspension of access and services without notice.

10. Termination of Access You can terminate your use at any time. We may also discontinue services at our discretion. Fees are non-refundable.

11.    Changes to Terms and Services We reserve the right to amend these terms and our offerings. Continued use implies acceptance of these changes.

12.  Our Responsibility to You We limit our liability in accordance with these terms, not responsible for direct or indirect losses related to the use of our Sites and Services.

13.  General Clauses These terms form the complete agreement between us regarding the use of our Sites and Services. You cannot transfer your rights under these terms without our consent.

Specific User Addendums For candidates, employers, and agents, additional terms apply, especially regarding job postings and legal compliance.

14. Refund Policy All purchases, including subscriptions and one-time services, are non-refundable.

Cancellation Policy Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, but no refunds will be provided for any unused portion.

Changes to Services We may modify or discontinue services without liability for the changes.

Transparency and Honesty:

At FilmmakerLife, we’re committed to honest reviews and journalistic integrity. Purchasing our services guarantees your project (feature, short, or episodic) will be seen and thoughtfully reviewed by a qualified FilmmakerLife staff writer. However, please remember that reviews are inherently subjective.

Managing Expectations:

• No Guarantees of Positive Reviews: Like any review platform, the outcome depends on the project’s merits. We encourage confidence in your work!
• Refunds: Unfortunately, refunds cannot be issued based on review content or service outcomes.
• Review Aggregator Inclusion: While we submit all reviews, inclusion on other platforms is at their discretion.

15. ADDITIONAL POLICY FOR SERVICES AND AWARDS

Service Claim Period Claim for any paid service must be made within six months of the payment date. We cannot ensure service provision beyond this timeframe.

Submission Rights To submit a project, the entrant must hold the rights or possess authorization from the rights holder.

Language Requirements Foreign films must be accompanied by English subtitles if the original language is not English.

Intellectual Property Rights Entrants maintain full ownership of all intellectual property rights.

Liability for Submissions FilmmakerLife Awards will not be held responsible for any damage to submitted materials.

Student Verification A valid student identification is required to access student discounts.

Judging and Selection Selection for the official competition is at the sole discretion of our judges, and decisions regarding selection will not be disclosed.

Disqualification Criteria Submissions may be disqualified if the content is found to be inappropriate.

Multiple Entries Films may be entered in several categories to qualify for multiple awards, however, selection is not guaranteed.

Agreement to Rules and Terms By submitting, entrants agree to the FilmmakerLife Awards Rules and Terms.

Personal Category Submissions For personal category entries, the name of the person being registered must be included in the cover letter via the FilmFreeway website. Failure to provide this information may lead to disqualification from the category.

Authorization of Use By submitting, you grant FilmmakerLife Awards permission to use, distribute, and share the film’s poster, trailer, synopsis, and movie stills on our social media platforms. Full films or projects must not be released.

Premiere Status We do not require that submissions be premieres.

Feedback Option If selected, the feedback option ensures your submission will be judged and updated within 72 hours from the receipt of the full submission. Feedback is not a writing review service.

Main Category Requirement Submissions must include at least one main category. Entries with only a feedback option will be disqualified without a refund.

Discount Codes Discount codes are only valid for film submissions, not for trophy purchases. Trophies purchased with discount codes will be canceled.

Payment Policy Please be advised that payments are non-refundable.

Category Variation Winning categories are subject to change based on the standard of submissions received monthly.

Selection Process If selected, the project progresses to review sessions for potential official selection. A “Nominee” status is not guaranteed.

Right of Refusal The Competition reserves the right to refuse entries. All fees are non-refundable.

Indemnification Entrants agree to indemnify the FilmmakerLife Awards against all claims arising from copyright and other rights issues.

Disqualification Rights The festival may disqualify any submission if there are issues concerning ownership or respect towards the festival.

Participation Cancellation Once the official selection is announced, participation cannot be canceled.

Official Communication All official correspondence will be conducted via email.

Festival Scheduling Dates and times are subject to change; refer to the FilmFreeway page for updates.

IMDb Credits IMDb has sole discretion over the approval of credits.

Non-Discrimination No discrimination will be made based on country of origin, language, age, race, education, ideology, sexual orientation, or economic resources.

Awards Feedback Policy No comments or reasons will be provided for films not selected.

Changes to Information All guidelines and terms are subject to change without notice. Submission signifies acceptance of these terms.
