In the vast and vibrant world of independent film, there are voices that not only tell stories but channel them—receiving inspiration as if from another realm. Tanya O’Quinn is one such voice. A self-proclaimed “psychic writer,” O’Quinn is a remarkable creative whose journey through life, intuition, and art has led her to a powerful intersection of storytelling and spiritual sensitivity.

“I’m pretty much the ‘typical’ Pisces,” O’Quinn explains, “sensitive, insecure, creative, moody, intuitive, entertaining and so forth.” While these traits might define her astrological sign, they have also helped shape a uniquely intuitive creative process—one that has evolved into a distinguished career as a screenwriter and director.

O’Quinn’s path began in childhood. At the age of ten, she penned her first spec script for a popular television show. In junior high, she wrote poetry so provocative and emotionally charged that it earned her the title of “Class Laureate,” while also sparking controversy—proof of the bold and unapologetic voice that would later define her work. “A classmate doubted my virginity,” she recalls, “due to a poem I wrote about abortion.”

Years passed, and as life unfolded, O’Quinn found herself immersed in the music industry. Yet, the creative pull of screenwriting—sparked by a colleague’s influence—beckoned her back to writing. This time, however, she brought something new to the process: the intuitive skills she had been developing for almost ten years.
“I realized that regardless of the pre-written story summary, what I was seeing and hearing was the real story,” she says. “And so, I learned to simply take dictation.”

O’Quinn’s writing process is unconventional, yet deeply personal. She begins by crafting a three-paragraph story summary, identifying key turning points. Then, she types FADE IN: and allows the scenes to unfold intuitively. She visualizes the moments, hears the dialogue, and translates them onto the page. It’s as though her screenplays are dictated by something greater—a higher creative force.

To date, Tanya O’Quinn has written ten feature films and eleven short films. She has also created a pilot for a television series and developed the treatment for another. Her repertoire includes a wide range of original ideas for television and web series, each driven by the same spiritually guided process. Her award-winning supernatural drama-turned-TV-pilot Keepsake cemented her place as a dynamic and visionary force in the indie space.

Whether she’s channeling dialogue from unseen muses or navigating the emotional undercurrents of a scene, Tanya O’Quinn operates from a place where intuition and creativity collide. In doing so, she crafts narratives that resonate on a soulful level—reminding audiences that storytelling is, at its heart, a mystical and transformative art.

In an industry often driven by formulas and trends, O’Quinn’s authenticity stands out. Her voice is not just heard—it’s felt. And for Tanya O’Quinn, that’s exactly the point.

Beyond her innate talent and intuitive approach, Tanya O’Quinn represents a new wave of storytellers who challenge traditional writing norms in favor of a deeper connection to the human experience. Her work not only entertains but also invites introspection, dialogue, and personal transformation. With each new project, O’Quinn reaffirms her commitment to authentic, emotionally resonant, and spiritually enriching cinema. Her journey is just beginning, and it promises to continue inspiring and surprising audiences around the world.
