Rooted in the vibrant spirit of Mexico City and molded by a household of musicians, mathematicians, and physiologists, this visionary artist channels a lifetime of eclectic influences into every frame of her work. A dynamic presence in the international film scene, particularly across Europe and Asia, she merges expressionist imagery with poetic narratives, challenging audiences with her fearless emotional truth and unconventional form.

Raised under the artistic wing of her uncle, renowned jazz pianist Ricardo Ocadiz, and inspired intellectually by her father, Enrique Guillermo Ruiz de la Torre, she developed an early sense of rhythm and logic that seamlessly translated into the structure of her films. Initially pursuing a degree in science, she found herself drawn to performance—earning early credits in Mexican telenovelas like CLAP and Reb3lde, and performing in stage musicals such as Newsies and Peter Pan. Yet it was the unseen magic behind the curtain that truly captivated her, eventually guiding her from center stage to behind the camera.

Her academic thesis on eating disorders in ballet dancers foreshadowed the emotional complexity of her later fiction. She became a film critic for F.I.L.M.E., won a screenwriting scholarship from Telemundo, and trained in cinematography at Altrafílmica, where she met her mentor, editor Juan Pablo Cortés. Following her first industry job on Sátiros (2017), she married actor-producer Roberto Arenas Farquet and published two critically acclaimed novels.

As a filmmaker, she has crafted over 60 award-winning works, including Neither You Nor I, Misplace the Rabbits, and Love Without a Casket, exploring human fragility through surreal, layered visuals. Her upcoming feature, A Wakefulness of Indocility, promises to be a bold statement of cinematic rebellion.
