In the heart of Palm Beach, Florida, the creative spark of a master storyteller shines brightly. With a presence marked by both humility and brilliance, David Towner defies conventional expectations. Though his background includes military distinction and entrepreneurial success, Towner’s true passion lies in storytelling—across genres, mediums, and emotional depths. Describing himself as a “prolific storyteller, not inhibited by structure or genre,” he has earned every word of that title.

From comic books and young adult novels to screenplays and his latest psychosexual suspense novel, Hollywood and Velvet, Towner’s creative repertoire is vast and vibrant. He produced and starred in the feature film Our Scripted Life and wrote, directed, and produced an animated short that has garnered over 300 million views—an extraordinary achievement in just three years.

Towner’s journey begins on a dirt road in rural Alaska and continues through Maysville, Kentucky, where a vibrant theater community first ignited his love for performance. Under the guidance of director Mike Thomas, and later working with Peter Hunt on a local film adaptation of Huckleberry Finn, Towner discovered his fascination with the filmmaking process. Though he enlisted in the military after high school and pursued business ventures, these practical paths eventually afforded him the freedom to embrace his artistic calling in his 50s.

The emotional resonance of The National’s Trouble Will Find Me album became the heartbeat of Hollywood and Velvet, a deeply personal narrative about temptation, success, and identity. First shelved, then reignited by a live concert in Cincinnati, the novel and screenplay now stand as a bold, timely work reflecting the cultural moment.

David Towner’s path is a testament to resilience, passion, and the power of storytelling. From rural beginnings to global recognition, he continues to inspire creatives everywhere to defy limitations and pursue their voice—fearlessly and without compromise.
