Michael Everett

Rooted in a small town in North Georgia, a place far from the lights of Hollywood, this award-winning filmmaker and multi-faceted artist cultivated his creative voice not through formal instruction, but through pure observation, experimentation, and relentless passion. His earliest artistic expressions emerged through music—teaching himself guitar at the age of five by watching family members—and later through photography, mastering the camera by meticulously tracking settings and results. These instincts later flourished through a music business degree from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, sharpening his skills as a recording engineer and producer.

Michael Everett’s deep audio background and intuitive approach to storytelling have become defining characteristics of his acclaimed filmmaking style. In 2005, he co-founded Creation Lab Pictures and Creation Lab Records alongside Matt Swanson, establishing the core platforms for his creative endeavors. Over the past 30 years, Everett has produced, recorded, and mixed over 150 LPs—including Gold and Billboard-charting albums—while also directing music videos for CMT and GAC. His portfolio of multi-award-winning films includes The Irrigationist, The Race, The Narrow Path, and the moving documentary The Katinas – Love God / Love People, which highlights the American Samoan Christian music group through powerful interviews with the five Katina brothers and renowned artists like Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, CeCe Winans, and Toby Mac.

Everett is celebrated for working improvisationally—rarely using storyboards—and treating unforeseen obstacles as creative opportunities. He thrives under pressure, using intuition, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence as his compass. He also composes, arranges, and personally mixes the soundtracks of his films, ensuring each project bears his signature quality and emotional depth.

With unwavering dedication to his art, family, and values, Michael Everett proves that brilliance is born not from ideal conditions, but from passion, perseverance, and a fearless commitment to storytelling.
