Written and directed by Michelle Arthur, ‘Rings of the Unpromised’ is a drama feature that stars Michelle Arthur, Kat Kramer, Linney Allen, Jeff Vernon, and Sergio Julian De Oliveira.

‘Rings of the Unpromised’ is the story of Heather and her quest for a life partner. Disappointed in the relationships she has had, Heather will discover how happiness from within is the solution that she had always seeked. Aided by her therapist in the film, this is a story of renaissance of a woman who has been hurt too many times by love.

Since it is about the pursuit of love, Arthur uses a variety of creative ways to show how her character Heather has slowly become detached from the world. This is important to ensure the audience identifies with Heather’s struggles to move on from the lack of commitment in the romantic relationships that she has had to endure.

The award-winning feature is Michelle Arthur’s magnum opus; she writes, directs, and is the Lead Actress of the entire production. Juggling three of the most important roles in a film’s making is no easy task but Arthur manages to do so with flying colours. The writing is potent with a marvelous poem layered in from Poet Tom Squitieri and some punchy dialogue contributed from Book Author Stacy Newton. Both lend a hand to Arthur’s style which imbues emotion in a captivating story, and manages to make the audience identify with the protagonist in the most unexpected of circumstances. Not only that but the characters that populate the film are all fascinating as well leaving their mark. How the story progresses, the surprising twists that happen to keep us on edge, and the resolution of the plot at the end – all are both satisfying and cathartic.

Arthur’s turn as Heather is fantastic. Since she wrote the script herself, she is well aware of the nuances of her character as well as the unique pages she has chosen to spring to life. With zest and poignancy, Heather does the role justice, allowing her character to present a masterclass of love and discovery.

Technically, the film remains on point. Andrew Giordano’s cinematography is vibrant and colorful, allowing a new dimension in an already original story. The camera work could have been improved with a larger crew team, but the current endeavor, in no way, detracts from what Arthur was trying to achieve. The meticulous sound design and mixing is also tremendous as well as the musical score by Composer R. Kim Shultz which allows the audience to impactfully feel the various emotions that Arthur wants us to feel. Shot in 16:9 4K with Dolby 5.1 surround sound mix with two talented singers found in Nina Kruse and Patrick Stalinski, Rings of the Unpromised is a beautiful audiovisual experience that manages to impress in more ways than one.

Thus, Rings of the Unpromised is a stunning, different, and highly-original film that manages to work in multiple ways, transporting the audience on a delighful journey of love and self healing. From its creative ways to exhibit loneliness to the poignant music, each aspect of this ‘film’ makes it a treat to experience. Guided by the powerful direction and performance of Michelle Arthur, we found ourselves on a cathartic journey that changed us all.
